The 13th Asia Nano Forum Summit was held on July 14, 2016 in Seoul, South Korea during Nano Korea 2016 (the 2nd largest nanotech conference and exhibition in Asia). The summit gathered around 40 representatives from ANF member economies including Austria, Iran, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Russia, who updated the latest nanotechnology development including policy, R&D, infrastructures, education, nanosafety and standardization as well as commercialization.
The ANF also held its 9th Annual General Meeting (AGM) where the secretariat from Singapore provided an overview of ANF activities during the past year and the treasurer presented the past year’s financial report and budget plan for the next year. The treasurer also presented a new ANF growth strategy.
ANF summit provides a platform for nanotech leaders from ANF member economies and invited observing economies to have face-to-face interaction, to share global nanotech updates, and to build relationships for collaborations.
The summit was generously hosted by the Korea Nanotechnology Research Society (KONTRS) who was also the organizer of Nano Korea 2016 which provided another valuable networking opportunity for ANF members to meet with other nanotech leaders who were invited guests and speakers at Nano Korea 2016 who are leaders in government, industry and research institutions from Japan, USA, Europe, China, Iran and beyond. For example, Prof. John A. Rogers, Dr. Nakamura Michiharu, Prof. Chang Jin Kim, Dr.Jun Kanno, Prof. Catherine J. Murphy are distinguished leaders from government, academia and industry.
