ANF Event Details:
AsiaNanoForum 2005, HKUST-AIST Joint Workshop on Nano Science and Technology
Location:
Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Clear Water Bay, Hong Kong
From:  2005/03/04   To:  2005/03/04
Introduction:
Within the framework of the Asia Nano Forum (ANF) and the mutual interest in areas of research in nano science and technology particularly in Carbon Nanotubes, Energy & Environment, Microsystem, Composites, Biomedical as well as Electronics Devices, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) agreed to have a joint workshop during March 3-4th 2005 at the beautiful campus of HKUST. The goal of the workshop is to exchange information on the infrastructure and technical development on nano science and technology of both organizations and to establish solid collaborations between the two organizations in terms of human resource exchange, joint research projects and other means of collaborations that are mutually beneficial. Recognize your leadership in the field of nanoscience and technology, we would like to invite you to participate in this workshop.
AIST is the largest national laboratory in Japan consisting of over 5000 researchers. About 20% of AIST R & D budget is allocated on nanoscience and technology with very wide spectrum of coverage.
HKUST has been awarded the largest nanotechnology center funded by the Hong Kong Innovation Technology Commission (ITC) and it was recently awarded the Nano and Advanced Materials Center to coordinate Hong Kong Nanoscience and Technology R & D and commercialization funded by the ITC and HK industries. HKUST covers wide range of research and particularly strong in Chemical Engineering, Condensed Matter Physics, Carbon Nanotubes synthesis and applications, displays, composites and applications for energy and environment. HKUST has a strong tight with research community in mainland China. It not only positions as a window in HK nanotech R & D and also a gateway/platform for collaborating with the mainland research community.
